Still from the movie I Hate Luv Storys
Apart from lifting weights, Imran’s routine included push-ups, pull-ups and exercises on the ball. The actor has bulked up for his new film I Hate Luv Storys.
Imran Khan will be flexing more than his acting muscles in his new film I Hate Luv Storys. The actor, who plays an assistant director and even has a shirtless scene, has bulked up for the role.
Imran, 27, who trains with fitness expert Yasmin Karachiwala, did a combination of Pilates and weight training for his new look. “The Pilates session, which included machine work, helped us challenge and activate his muscles,” says Yasmin, adding that the actor would devote an hour every morning to Pilates. The evenings were spent weight training where Imran would concentrate on one part of his body every day. “His exercises had to be paced out well as he has a high metabolism rate. A forceful routine with too many repetitions could have led to loss of muscle mass,” says Yasmin. Within a month’s time the actor put on 7 kgs of muscle mass.
So did he take inspiration from Bollywood’s six-pack ab brigade? “He is way too focused to need any such stimulants,” says Yasmin, “He just relies on logic and reason.” And some support from girlfriend Avantika Malik. “She supervised my meals and even had them cooked in her house,” says Imran Khan.
Currently his shoulders aren’t as big as they are in the movie posters, but Imran plans on maintaining his physique. “I’m still following the same diet,” he says.
Imran’s Fish Diet
Meal 1: Muesli and protein shake.
Meal 2: Fruits and nuts.
Meal 3: Steamed fish, steamed vegetables and sweet potatoes.
Meal 4: Egg white omelette.
Meal 5: Steamed fish, steamed vegetables and sweet potatoes.
Meal 6: Protein shake.

Sajid Khan with Sonali Bendre & Kirron Kher
As the new judge on the second season of Colors show India’s Got Talent, the director warns he is going to be hard to please! About co-judge Sonali Bendre and Kirron Kher, Sajid says, “I’m extremely happy I’m going to be with both my friends.”
What do you love about the show?
That you don’t necessarily have to be a great singer or a dancer. You can showcase any hidden talent that only your friends and family knows about. It’s a chance to showcase your uniqueness.
What’s your secret talent?
I’m a very good home theatre designer. I have designed one for myself and many friends from the film industry. They call me at 3AM to ask me why the DVD is skipping or why the sound isn’t working. I do all that a lot because I’m a troubleshooter when it comes to home theatres.
As a judge, you will be…
Mr. Hard-to-please. I don’t like fake emotions and people who give excuses for a bad performance. I appreciate those who try and give their best shot. Also, I’m okay with a contestant not being very talented as long as he or she is courageous enough to be on stage.
Are you working on your wardrobe for the show?
I’m not a good looking guy at all. Honestly, if I dress up very well then maybe I could score three or two-and-a-half on 10, but I guess I’m not hired for my looks.
Your film Housefull was a superhit.
I anticipated it, I don’t think I would ever be involved in making a film which will not do well at the box-office. The box-office means people’s acceptance. I’m extremely happy that people have liked it.

Although this is touted to be a film about the political world, the music doesn’t betray any such overtones. Aside from ‘Dhan Dhan Dharti’, which borrows its opening strains from ‘Vande Mataram’, the other songs could very well turn up on any typical Bollywood soundtrack and no one would even notice. That is a mixed blessing. On one hand, the light-footed melodies in ‘Bheegi Si Bheegi Si’ and ‘Ishq Barse’ have a broad appeal but on the other, Aadesh Srivastava’s cumbersome classical number ‘Mora Piya Mose Bolat Naahin’ seems like a misfire. Come to think of it, even when the album obliquely tackles the subject at hand in ‘Dhan Dhan Dharti’, it doesn’t hit its stride. Still, if the goal here was to create a more commercially palatable score for a serious film, the makers have at least partially succeeded.
What’s the story?
In a fiercely fought election campaign, the lines between good and evil blur as people vie for power. Bhaskar Sanyal (Naseeruddin Shah) is a firebrand leftist leader who is on a self-imposed exile, while Sooraj (Ajay Devgan) is torn between loyalty to friends and his family. Prithvi (Arjun Rampal), heir to a political legacy, can’t wait to seize the top position. Samar (Ranbir Kapoor), a complete outsider, is eventually dragged into the political arena. Indu (Katrina Kaif) rises from a personal tragedy to change the political future of the state.
Watch out for
About 10,000 theatre actors from MP were trained for the crowd scenes in the film. “While shooting Katrina’s rally in Bhopal, apart from the theatre actors, a crowd of 15,000 people gathered. When she finished her speech in one take, there was a standing ovation,” says a source.
Behind the scenes
Top Chef: The cast and crew grew fond of Nana, who often cooked for them. “The hotel in Bhopal let him use their kitchen so Nana would make chicken or keema for us.”
Gully Cricket: During breaks everyone would play cricket. Says a source, “Being the only girl in the multi-starrer, Katrina would feel left out so she insisted on playing along. The boys weren’t keen but eventually they relented.”

The actress made her TV debut as the host of UTV Bindass’s reality show Big Switch which has 10 rich kids and slumdwellers pairing up in a slum in Mumbai to complete certain tasks. The winner gets to fulfil his partner’s wish.
Have you made a big switch in your life?
I was a management student, even a footballer and I never thought of films. That was certainly a big switch. Another would be this show because it’s such a different thing for me.
Any friends you want to invite to the show?
I would love to call all my friends and co-stars, from Riteish Deshmukh to Govinda. We had Priyanka Chopra over recently and it was so much fun.
Would you participate in a reality show?
I don’t think I would enjoy the idea of being watched and monitored so closely. I am too private a person. But I loved watching MTV’s Roadies. I like the fact that it brought out the competitive streak among youngsters.
What do you watch on telly?
I am a news person. I love interactive shows like We The People and Big Fight or maybe a chat show like Koffee With Karan. I also catch up on film promos and movie updates.
What do you love and hate about being a TV host?
I love to be the onlooker and point out what is right and what is wrong. I also like the opportunity to meet different people. But I really dislike the fact that there’s no script and I have to go unprepared. I prefer being prepared.

Relationship in Bollywood ignite and fade away just as quickly. But they continue to make waves nevertheless. Some couples are cool; some are hot and some w’d rather not talk about. We decided to ask your favourite stars to pick their perfect real-life couple. Read on to find out who are the lucky two that add something extra to the table…
Adhyayan Suman
Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor seem good together. They have great chemistry and are clearly very much in love. Being together seems to have helped them career-wise also.
Celina Jaitley
I think Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are the ideal couple. They are the perfect example of love being for keeps. I would like to have a marriage like them because they’re genuinely in love and not just together for endorsements or branding. They have stood by each other in the most tring times.
Geeta Basra
Hrithik and Sussane Roshan look good together but for me, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan are the ultimate. She’s kept her dignity and the star-wife tag perfectly and they are the most sanctimonious couple of Bollywood.

Dia Mirza
After winning the Miss Asia Pacific title the same year as Lara Dutta and Priyanka Chopra won their beauty crowns, Dia too tried her luck in Bollywood. While her debut Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein didn’t fare well, Dia managed to get noticed. Next came smaller roles in Parineeta, Lage Raho Munnabhai and Honeymoon Travels, and a lead role in Hum Tum Aur Ghost. Her future projects include Alibaug and Johnny Mastana. We bring to you the excerpts of a not so gossip tete-a-tete with Dia:
